MUN Guide

Creating a MUN

All fields explained, slug permanence, image specs, status lifecycle, and pricing options

Starting the MUN creation form

Navigate to Dashboard → My MUNs → Create New MUN. You'll work through a multi-section form. Read through this guide before filling it in — a few fields have permanent consequences.

The slug field is the most important decision you'll make in this form. It becomes your permanent public URL. Once your MUN goes live, it cannot be changed. More on this below.

Core details — title, slug, and description

These three fields define your MUN's identity on the platform.

  • Title: The full display name. E.g. "Amity Global Youth MUN 2025" or "IGCMUN XII". Appears on all public listings, registration confirmation emails, QR tickets, and allocation emails. Make it complete and accurate.
  • Slug: Your permanent URL identifier. E.g. agymun25 → public page becomes tikxz.com/mun/agymun25. Keep it short, lowercase, no spaces (use hyphens), and include the year if you run this annually.
  • Description: Rich text field shown on the public listing page. Write 2–4 paragraphs covering your MUN's unique value, your organizing committee's background, and what delegates can expect. This is your pitch — treat it like one.
  • Edition: Optional. "XII", "2025", "7th" etc. Shown as a badge on the listing card.
The slug is permanent. Read that again. Permanent. AGYMUN25 becomes AGYMUN25 forever — pick it carefully before you share the link anywhere. Changing it after going live would break every link you've already distributed.

Slug best practices:

  • Use lowercase letters and hyphens only: igcmun-xii, not IGCMUN XII
  • Include the year if you run this annually: agymun-2025
  • Keep it under 20 characters — it goes in links people will type and share
  • Avoid generic slugs like mun2025 that might clash with other organizers

Images — banner and logo specs

Both images appear prominently to delegates. Get them right.

ImageRequired dimensionsFormatMax sizeWhere it appears
Banner1920×1080px (16:9)PNG or JPG5MBHero image on public MUN page, social share previews
Logo500×500px (1:1 square)PNG or JPG2MBMUN listing cards, delegate confirmation emails

How to export at the right size:

  • Canva: Click "Resize" or use "Custom size" → set exactly 1920×1080 or 500×500 → Export as PNG.
  • Figma: Create a frame at exact dimensions → Export at 1× scale as PNG.
  • Adobe Express / Photoshop: File → Export → set canvas size to exact dimensions before exporting.
  • Never upscale a small image to hit the required resolution — compression artifacts and blurriness will be very visible.
Your banner is often the first thing a potential delegate sees. A blurry, stretched, or pixelated banner communicates "this event is disorganized" before they've read a word. Spend 10 minutes getting it right.

Venue, dates, and location

Location data feeds the public directory's discoverability filters and appears in delegate communications.

  • City: Used for location-based discovery on the tikxz.com/explore page. Delegates in Delhi searching for nearby MUNs will find you if this is set correctly.
  • Venue: Full name and address of the event venue. Appears on the public listing, confirmation emails, and QR tickets. E.g. "Amity International School, Sector 46, Gurugram, Haryana 122003".
  • Event start / end dates: When the event physically happens. Used for the public listing display and the "Ongoing" status trigger.
  • Registration start / end dates: When delegates can and cannot register. The platform automatically closes registration at the registration end date — but you can close it manually before then if you've hit capacity.
Set your registration end date 2–3 days before the event start, not the night before. This gives you time to finalize committee allocations, send allocation emails, and handle last-minute changes without everything being on fire simultaneously.

Pricing and payment options

Tikxz supports flexible pricing — a flat fee for all delegates, per-committee pricing, free MUNs, and offline payment via Cash Drive.

OptionHow it worksBest for
Default registration feeSingle amount charged to all delegates regardless of committeeMost MUNs — simple and consistent
Per-committee fee overrideIndividual committees can set their own price, overriding the defaultEvents where different committees have different value (e.g. premium UNSC, cheaper IP)
Free MUN (fee = 0)No payment collected — registration onlySchool MUNs, internal events, pilot events
Cash DriveDelegates register and choose "Pay Later" — you collect payment offline and mark as paidEvents with mixed online/offline attendees, or no KYC yet
Platform fees are a small percentage deducted from your payouts — delegates always pay the listed price. The exact fee percentage is visible in Dashboard → Finance.

Visibility and capacity settings

  • Public: Your MUN appears on tikxz.com/explore and is discoverable by all delegates browsing the platform. This is the default and recommended for most events.
  • Unlisted: Your MUN is only accessible via a direct link. It won't appear in search or the explore directory. Useful for invite-only events, internal school MUNs, or events with a pre-selected delegate pool.
  • Capacity: Set a maximum delegate count. When this number is reached, the registration form automatically closes — even if the registration end date hasn't passed yet. If you don't set a capacity, registrations stay open until you manually close them or the end date passes.

MUN status lifecycle

Every MUN moves through a series of statuses. Understanding what each status enables (and restricts) helps you manage the event timeline correctly.

StatusWho can see itWhat delegates can doWhat you can edit
DraftOnly you + teamNothing — page not publicEverything, including slug
UpcomingEveryone on tikxz.com/exploreView the page, not registerMost fields — slug now locked if shared
Registration OpenEveryoneView, register, and payDescription, images, dates — core details locked
Registration ClosedEveryoneView only — no new registrationsCommittee allocations, team access
OngoingEveryoneView onlyScanner settings, team access
CompletedEveryone (past event view)View onlyNothing — event archived
Once a MUN moves out of Draft and into any published state, the slug is permanently locked. Before moving to Upcoming, double-check your slug, title, and dates. These are the hardest to fix later.

How to transition statuses:

  1. 1

Go to Dashboard → Your MUN → Overview. The current status is shown prominently at the top.

  2. 2

Click Change Status to open the status selector. Only valid next statuses are shown — you can't skip steps.

  3. 3

Some transitions require conditions — e.g., you must have at least one committee set up before you can open registration. The platform will tell you what's missing.

  4. 4

Confirm the change. Status updates are immediate — there's no scheduling or delay.
